Beat The Cut ("we," "us," or "our") operates beatthecut.com, a golf pick'em pool platform. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

We collect only the information necessary to provide our service:

• Email address — used for account creation, sign-in, and service communications
• Name / Display name — used to identify you within pools you participate in
• Pool and team data — your pool memberships, team picks, and tiebreaker entries
• Activity timestamps — date and time of account creation, sign-ins, team submissions, and edits
• System information — IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically for security and performance purposes
• Authentication data — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google as permitted by your Google account settings

We do not collect payment card details. Platform fees are processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor, and we never see or store your card information.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to operate and improve Beat The Cut:

• To create and manage your account
• To authenticate your identity when you sign in
• To display your name and team within pools you've joined
• To send transactional emails — sign-in codes, account notices, and pool-related communications
• To process platform fee payments when applicable
• To maintain security, detect fraud, and troubleshoot technical issues
• To improve the platform based on usage patterns

We do not use your information for targeted advertising, third-party marketing, or any purpose beyond operating this service.

Third-Party Service Providers

Beat The Cut uses the following third-party services to operate. Each provider has access to limited data only as necessary to perform their function:

Cookies & Session Data

Beat The Cut uses cookies solely for authentication and session management. When you sign in, a secure session cookie is stored in your browser to keep you logged in.

• Authentication cookies — required for the service to function. Cannot be disabled while using the platform.
• No advertising cookies — we do not use tracking or advertising cookies of any kind.
• No third-party analytics cookies — we do not run Google Analytics or similar tracking tools.

You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings, which will sign you out of your account.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Specifically:

• Account data — retained while your account exists and for a reasonable period after deletion to resolve disputes
• Pool and team data — retained indefinitely as part of pool history
• Activity logs — retained for up to 12 months for security and debugging purposes

Your Rights

Regardless of your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — request correction of inaccurate information
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and personal data

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

Beat The Cut is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously. Beat The Cut uses industry-standard security measures including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Supabase Row Level Security (RLS) ensuring users can only access their own data
• Secure, HttpOnly session cookies
• No storage of passwords — authentication is handled via Google OAuth or one-time codes

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users via email where appropriate. Your continued use of Beat The Cut after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
